Samosir Regency: Weather

Samosir Regency geographic position is Latitude between 2 Degree 21’38’’ North - 2 Degree 49’48’’ North , and Longitude between 98 Degree 24’00’’East  - 99 Degree 01’48’’ East. Due to the geographical position, Samosir Regency is in Tropical Climate Region. The climate is  only dry season and rainy season.  Elevation of Samosir Regency area  is between about 904 meters to 2.157 meters above sea level. The lowest elevation of Samosir Regency area is influenced by Toba Lake water surface elevation. Toba Lake water surface elevation vary to the weather condition. A long  dry season in the surrounding areas will influence the water run off from  hills and mountains through rivers and streams along Toba Lake shorelines.


Samosir in Figure (2015) described the highest mean rainfall in 2014 was in Sianjur Mulamula Sub-district, about 208 mm, Simanindo Sub-district 176,45 mm,  Sitiotio Sub-district 168 mm, Onan Runggu Sub-district 153 mm, Pangururan Sub-district 150 mm, Harian Sub-district 135 mm, Palipi Sub-district 130 mm, Ronggurnihuta Sub-District 100,45 mm and the lowest was in Nainggolan Sub-district 61 mm. In the same year 2014, highest rainy days mean was 31 days in Harian Sub-district, 15,82 days in Simanindo Sub-district, 14 days in Pangururan Sub-district, 13,55 days in Ronggurnihuta Sub-district, 13 days in Nainggolan Sub-district, 12 days in Onan Runggu and Palipi Sub-district and the lowest was 11 days in Sitiotio Sub-district. 

The average temperature of Samosir Regency in 2014 was about 17 degree - 29,4 degree Celsius. The absolute lowest temperature was 14,6 and the highest absolute temperature 32,9. The absolute highest and lowest temperature was February, the average lowest temperature was February and highest average temperature was in June.
