Based on the explanation about map, we can imagine how the Google Earth built. It contain billions of dots, lines and areas and pictures that arranged to build the picture of the globe. Layer by layer of earth surface pictures was arranged by its position in the earth, added with points, lines and areas that enriches the information the Google Earth can show.

Basically, the Google Earth is a software that contain hundred thousand of satellite images that layered by time and location. The images have different ranges of eye altitude.  The highest eye altitude will show the globe, medium eye altitude show the continents and oceans, medium lower altitude show the county boundaries, and lower eye altitude will show the cities and places, and the lowest eye  altitude will show the building, roads, cars and smaller earth surface features.

The images show the real condition of earth surface in the time the pictures were taken. The earth surface shows land, water or ocean, terrain, land cover, man made building and infrastructures. Man made building or infrastructures such as roads, buildings and houses, and some features that incidentally by time, captured in pictures. Moving objects such as cars, planes, ships and trains probably captured and shown in the picturea.

The details of the features in the pictures, depend on the eye altitude when the pictures were taken. The lens and camera that using to capture the images and the images size. The higher the eye altitude, the lesser the details can be seen, the lower the eye altitude, more details of the earth surface features can be seen. Sometimes the the features in the pictures covered by clouds and cannot be seen at all. But, while the pictures in the Google Earth updated, the feature which previously covered by clouds can be seen.
