The form and the pattern of the stones that carved by the external power of the earth depend of the mineral types of the stones. Stone's mineral which have different types will have different hardness. The hardness of mineral in the stones influenced the form or the pattern of stones. The weakest part will eroded first and left the harder part. Slowly, the harder part of the stones will be eroded too. The duration depends on the intensity of external power the causing the erosion progress.

Onion layers pattern images above show the form and pattern that created by the erosion and weathering progress. Weathering progress causing the erosion of the stones layer by layer. The two upper images show the combination of weathering and seawater erosion. It can be seen that some tiny shell attached on the stones. While the high tide reached the stones, the shells attached on the stones. And the shells keep attaching on the stone when the low tide happened.
In the images above, the weakest part of the stones that eroded first can be seen. The thin layers is the weakest part. Meanwhile the harder part is on the center of the stones. Below are the images of harder stones that the weakest part has been eroded and left the harder part of the stones. The form of stones left commonly in rounded form. Some little holes on the stones are indicated that the stones is in weathering and erosion progress too.

All the stones in this page indicated that the stones are conglomerate type. Conglomerate is a coarse-grained clastic sedimentary rock that is composed of a substantial fraction of rounded to subangular gravel-size stones. The existing of conglomerate rocks that used to be the part of sedimentary rocks in Tanjung Boay hills supported the prediction that the area was beneath the earth, but the tension in the earth pushed the hill area to surface. This phenomenon indicated active geological activities beneath Halmahera Island.
