Indonesia is an archipelago country in South East Asia Area. The archipelago laid between Asia Mainland in North and Australia at South, Pacific Ocean in East and Indian Ocean in West.

There are five primary biggest islands in Indonesia, they are, from East to West; Papua (Formerly Irian Jaya), Sulawesi, Kalimantan (Borneo), Jawa (Java) and Sumatra. The pictures below show the Indonesia's biggest mainlands and its name.

The archipelago spreads from East to West, consist of more 17.000 islands. The geologist suggested that in the past, some of the islands was one island which separated by the geologic process to the current condition. The image above shows the ocean color  which is light blue and dark blue. The area in the light blue in west part, Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Malaysia Peninsula is predicted as one island, in east part, Papua and Australia is predicted as one island. And Sulawesi as one big island.





For administrative and time zone purpose, Indonesia divided to 3 parts. They are West Indonesia Time Zone (Bagian Barat Waktu Indonesia/BBWI, formerly Waktu Indonesia Bagian Barat/WIB), Central Indonesia Time Zone (Waktu Indonesia Tengah/WIT), and East Indonesia Time Zone (Waktu Indonesia Bagian Timur/WITA). DKI Jakarta, the Capital of Indonesia included in Bagian Barat Waktu Indonesia or West Indonesia time zone. Image below show Indonesia with grid that captured from Google Earth.

Big island which include in West Indonesia Time Zone are Sumatra and Java, Central Indonesia Time Zone are Kalimantan or Borneo and Sulawesi,  East Indonesia Time Zone are Papua and Maluku region islands. It is mean that Indonesia have three different time zone. West Indonesia Time Zone has one hour different time to Central Indonesia Time Zone and Central Indonesia Time Zone has one hour different time to East Indonesia Time Zone. And West Indonesia Time Zone has two hours different time to East Indonesia Time Zone. As the common quote "The Sun rise at East and set at West", meaning that East Indonesia Time Zone got sunrise earlier than Central and West Indonesia Time Zone, and Central Indonesia Time Zone got earlier sunrise than West Indonesia Time Zone.
